Four Year Program for the Revised Math Education Option

Students who follow the program below will complete the requirements for the revised Math Education Option of the Mathematics Major in four years if they earn at least a C in every course. The program does not include university requirements outside the math major, such as general education requirements, statutory requirements, the graduate writing assessment requirement, etc. Students should take care also to include these classes in their plans.

Notice regarding general education.

• Math majors do not need to take MAT 105 because the math major requires MAT 193 which satisfies the Quantitative Reasoning Requirement.
• Math majors do not need to take PHY 100 because the math major requires PHY 130 which satisfies the natural sciences requirement.

Suggested Programs for the Math Education Option (new version)

All courses are offered in the evening unless otherwise indicated.

First two years of revised Math Education Option.

1. Option for students who have already taken MAT 153 or equivalent. Students who have not taken MAT 153 should take MAT 153 or an equivalent course at a community college during the summer before beginning this program if they wish to avoid attending CSUDH during the day.

2. Option for students who need MAT 153. This program would require students to attend in the morning in the first, third and fourth semesters. We recommend students that students take MAT 153 or an equivalent course at a community college during the summer and then take Option 1 if they wish to avoid attending CSUDH during the day.

Final two years of revised Math Education Option.

The two plans described below are different because MAT 401 is offered at night only in the fall semester of odd numbered years.
