Requirements of Math Education Option in Math
Major

Notices:
- The university requires all undergraduate students to complete
40 units in upper division courses. Completing the math major and
upper division GE is not enough. It is the student's
responsibility, not the math department's responsibility, to make
sure this requirement is met.
- In fall semester 2004 the math department began offering a new version of the math education option. This new version is listed below. We have submitted it to the California State Commission on Teacher Credentialing
(CTC) for approval. We expect it to be approved soon, however students should know that the new program will not meet the
CTC Subject Matter Requirements for a high school math teacher until it is formally approved by the CTC.
Students who need to satisfy the Subject Matter Requirements by
June 2005 should follow the old version of the Math Ed Option. The
old version is described in the 2003-2004 University
Catalog.
