POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENTAL MATHEMATICS
The
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- serve as coordinator of our remedial math program, with responsibility for improving the program and its curriculum using current research in the field and coordinating the courses and faculty;
- teach a variety of courses for undergraduate mathematics majors, service courses, and remedial courses;
- assist with student advising and program development;
- hire, train, and supervise student tutors
Note: Lecturers typically teach fifteen units per semester. The successful candidate for this position will teach nine units and will use the remaining six units for coordinating remedial math and supervising student tutors. For the first semester only the balance will be six units teaching and nine units for coordinating the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Earned doctorate in Math Education or a related field, with a minimum BS in Mathematics. Experience coordinating a remedial math program. Ability to teach mathematics and service courses to students with diverse backgrounds and skills. Commitment and ability to improve the remedial program using current research in the field.
Preferred: Experience teaching remedial math. MS in Mathematics. Familiarity with computers. Ability to work with and teach courses for prospective mathematics teachers.
RANK AND SALARY:
Rank and salary are negotiable and depend upon qualifications and professional experience.
