MAT 211 Calculus III

Course Description

Multivariable calculus: analytic geometry, scalar and vector products, partial differentiation, multiple integration, change of coordinates, gradient, optimization, line integrals, Green's theorem, elements of vector calculus.

Prerequisites

MAT 193 or equivalent with a grade of "C" or better.

Grading Policy

The grade depends on homework, tests, and a final exam:
16% Homework
54% Three tests (18% each)
30% Final exam

100% of the final grade.

Please check the Calendar frequently for homework assignment updates, etc. I don't plan to change the test dates; please arrange your schedule so you can take tests on the assigned dates. Homework is due at the start of class on the Monday after it is assigned.

Attendance Requirements

Attendance is voluntary. However experience shows that students who miss class frequently generally fail. We want you to become strong and succeed! Please do not skip class.

Policy on Due Dates and Make-Up Work

I do not plan to accept late homeworks or give make-up exams. Please plan your schedule so you can turn things in on time. You will learn much more effectively if you keep up with the class schedule and don't allow yourself to fall behind.

Students should be able to demonstrate through written assignments, tests, and/or oral presentations, that they have achieved the objectives of MAT 211.

Method of Evaluating Outcomes

Evaluations are based on homework, class participation, short tests and scheduled examinations covering students' understanding of topics covered in MAT 211.
