MAT 191 Calculus I

Course Description: Limits, continuity, derivatives, differentiation formulas, applications of derivatives, introduction to integration, fundamental theorem of calculus, inverse functions.

Prerequisite: MAT 153 or equivalent with a grade of "C" or better.

Time & Place: M W 10:00--11:30 (WH A117), F 10:00--11:15 (WH C155)

Textbook: Essential Calculus, by James Stewart, Brooks/Cole 2007

LSAMP Tutorial for 191/171 EAC 501, Tu 11:20--12:50, Th 11:20--12:50, 17:30--20:30. Tutors: Mark Lohmann, Raul Escobar.

Calculator:

• Symbolic calculators, such as TI-89 or TI-92 are not acceptable for this course. As for instruction I will use a TI-84 plus.
• Here is a java base graphing calculator. You can also visit its offical website

Assignment: Exercises will be assigned via Webwork. They are an integral part of the course.
