About Us

The Multicultural Center of California State University, Dominguez Hills is the university programming department dedicated to enhancing the multicultural consciousness and empowerment of CSUDH students through student activities that enrich campus life. Created in 1994 by a coalition of students, faculty and staff, the MCC strives to address and redress the legacies of exclusion and separation on campus and in the nation, while contributing to the advancement of democratic inclusion, social justice and meaningful equality. The MCC fosters a campus environment that supports the exploration of diverse heritages, values and cultural experiences by offering a wide range of co-curricular activities and programs throughout the academic year. Some of these include: our annual weekend Cross Cultural Retreat, 2-day multicultural festival, dramatic presentations, lectures, concerts, art exhibits, movies, symposia, poetry performances, and dialogue groups that explore socially relevant issues such as racism, sexism, heterosexism, inter-ethnic relationships and cultural identity. The MCC also provides support and funding for student groups and academic departments to host events such as the annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration, Lunar New Year Celebration, Black History Month, Asian Pacific Heritage Month and the Bilingual/Multicultural Education Conference.

Multicultural Center Programming Board (MCCPB)

MCCPB is a leadership opportunity for students to assist with the planning and implementation of MCC events and programs. MCCPB is the governing student body responsible for the review and approval of MCC co-sponsored programs.

The Multicultural Center Programming Board (MCCPB) is responsible for planning, producing and implementing various cultural programs and events during the academic year. MCCPB is a student-centered programming board, with support and membership made of CSUDH students that serve as the primary leadership development vehicle of the CSUDH Multicultural Center. The board is advised and supervised by the MCC Coordinator.

The MCC Programming Board exists to collaborate with student, and community groups, campus departments, and the MCC Advisory Board to develop programs that appropriately serve the University community. MCCPB sponsors and co-sponsors programs and events that promote education and the celebration of diversity and culture. In addition to programming campus activities, the MCC offers meeting space, a multicultural resource library and numerous opportunities for student leadership and volunteerism. It is located in Carson, California - one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the nation - on the campus of CSUDH - the second-most ethnically diverse institution of higher learning in the United States.
