IN COOPERATION WITH THE LOS ANGELES CHAPTER, APICS (LAPICS)

Lean is about doing more with less:

Lean is about speed and getting it right the first time.
Click on the puzzle pieces below to read white papers defining lean in much detail.
Do You Have a Lean Strategy?

CSUDH in partnership with the Los Angeles and Anaheim Chapters of APICS offers
four one day seminars about competitive manufacturing and distribution business techniques.

LEAN MANUFACTURING FUNDAMENTALS

The seminar provides an overview of lean manufacturing essential topics. At the end of the seminar attendees will participate in class exercises that vividly illustrate the powerful advantages of simplifying their manufacturing problems. Exercises will also demonstrate how to use pull systems to achieve efficient manufacturing flow in record short lead times with minimal inventory. This is an ideal seminar to get a grasp of the fundamental principles of what “Lean Manufacturing” really means and why it has revolutionized competitive manufacturing worldwide.

“5 S” WORK PLACE ORGANIZATION PRINCIPLES - A FUNDAMENTAL TO LEAN MANUFACTURING

The seminar covers the principles of 5S work place organization — Sorting, Simplifying, Sweeping, Standardizing and Self-discipline. Attendees will learn how to involve the office and factory workers in creating a productivity breakthrough with improved product quality. Managers from the leading world manufacturing.

SIX SIGMA FUNDAMENTALS

The seminar provides an overview on why and how the term Six Sigma has become so popular. Six Sigma establishes an organizational culture of analytical strategies, tools and statistical techniques used to improve the bottom line in both office and factory floor processes and procedures. Attendees will learn how to optimize operating processes using statistical control, control input variables, make procedures and methods mistake proof, reduce cycle time and enhance customer service.

THEORY OF CONSTRAINTS - WHAT IS IT? HOW IS IT APPLIED? WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

The seminar covers the problem-solving “Theory of Constraints” (TOC) concepts popularized by Dr. E. Goldratt in his books The Goal, The Race, It’s Not Luck, The Haystack Syndrome and others. Now this problem-solving theory and approach is being used to achieve breakthrough solutions for thorny problems in business strategy, production and service. It’s also being used in some advanced scheduling software. Attendees will learn what it means to “exploit a constraint” and why it gives them a new way to think about and advantageously deal their major business problems.

You’ll benefit most from this seminar if you are a:

• Mid-or upper-level manager of Administration, Operations or Manufacturing
• Process Owner or Manager
• Director/Coordinator of TQM, CSI or Team-based Improvement
• Member of a process reengineering team
• Quality Manager
• Actively involved in your organization’s process or quality
