The Program Effectiveness Assessment Tool (PEAT) was developed
by the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Planning
(IRAP) working in collaboration with the Program Review Panel (PRP).
It is a dynamic and fluid instrument and each indicator as well
as the overall instrument will be reviewed and revised by the PRP
on a regular basis. In September 2005, the PEAT and its process
were approved by the Academic Affairs Program Effectiveness Committee
(AAPEC) as the vehicle for submission of the annual Program Effectiveness
Report (PER) required by all academic programs. The new PER guidelines
and timeline are available at

CouncilCommittees/Aapec.htm
The PEAT contains over 30 quantitative performance
indicators assessing faculty and student quality, centrality and
complementariness, demand, uniqueness, program vitality, and fiscal
status. Completion of the 19 qualitative performance indicators
coupled with the PEAT quantitative data constitute the PEAT+. The
Program Effectiveness Assessment
Tool: Performance Indicators document provides a full description
of each performance indicator as well as the data sources for the
quantitative indicators.
Individuals responsible for completing the qualitative portion
of the PEAT+, which includes the 19 performance indicators, can
download the writable PEAT+ Qualitative Indicators file to answer the qualitative indicators directly.
