Introduction to Macintosh
Learn all the basics of the Macintosh computer—the menu bar, resizing a window, how to open files and folders. You will also learn how to send e-mails and access the Internet. This course is for OLLI members who (1) have never used a computer, (2) have used a PC but want to learn the Mac, or (3) have used a Macintosh but feel they need a refresher course.

Introduction to iPad - Getting the Most out of your iPad!

Have an iPad and don't know how to use it? We've got the class for you!

Learn the basics of using the built-in iPad applications--the browser, e-mail, calendar, reminders, iTunes, and notes. Download apps from the Apple App Store. Understand the capabilities of your particular iPad model. Learn how to configure the basic settings of your iPad. Learn to have fun and develop basic productive skills with your iPad. With the help of Chuck Griner, OLLI member, retired information systems analyst, and technophile, you will be guided to the path of iPad empowerment!

This course requires any working iPad 2 or newer model. OLLI members may share an iPad device. You will need to have an Internet provider and know your ID and password for your home wi-fi and your existing e-mail account. You will also need to know your Apple ID and password.

Enrollment is limited to 15 OLLI members.

Intermediate iPad - Getting Even More out of your iPad!

This intermediate course is for users who are comfortable using the iPad and seek to improve on their basic skills while learning how to take advantage of the popular aftermarket software from the Apple App Store.

Students will be demonstrating powerful and entertaining aftermarket applications that add functionality to the iPad. Students will download selected popular apps from the Apple App Store and learn to use them. With the help of Chuck Griner, OLLI member, retired information systems analyst, and technophile, you will be guided to the path of iPad empowerment!

Introduction to Digital Photography
Enjoy and improve your photography!

Do you have a digital camera and computer at home? Would you like to use your equipment to its full potential? This class will help you to get most out of your camera and your computer. You will learn about exposure, lighting and composition, downloading photographs to a computer, and enhancing photos in iPhoto.

Prerequisites:

  • Attendees should be somewhat familiar with computers and their cameras.
  • Have some way to transfer your photos to the computer (usually a flash drive, card reader, or a cord).

Are you on Facebook?
Multi-generational Facebook Boot Camp

The course is for beginners and not-so-beginners on Facebook. Students who have taken this course in the past are encouraged to enroll to learn Facebook's newest features.

In this course OLLI members will work hands-on with a renowned instructor and a team of computer savvy high school and college student assistants to learn about Facebook and its newest features, including powerful yet easy-to-use new privacy, photo, and video editing tools. While no previous computer or Facebook experience is required, OLLI members with advanced computer or Facebook skills will also benefit by virtue of the unique and stimulating format of this workshop and its use of intergenerational teaching and learning strategies. Be prepared to have fun while learning in one of our most popular OLLI offerings! Cal State University/OLLI Certificates of Completion are awarded at the graduation party after the fourth class. Sign up early to avoid disappointment, as class size is strictly limited.
