Course Description

This course focuses on providing information that can be used by health care employers and employees to understand and control exposures to the chemical glutaraldehyde, thus preventing conditions resulting from exposure.

Prerequisite
OSX 979 - Healthcare Facility Safety - Hazards and Solutions.

Student Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, the successful student will be able to:

  • Evaluate the health effects from exposure to glutaraldehyde
  • Identify engineering control methods for prevention of exposure
  • Identify where safer chemical substitutes can replace glutaraldehyde .
  • Recognize the general recommendations for the safe use of glutaraldehyde in health care facilities
