Course Description:

This course covers the process of identifying, selecting and safeguarding machinery to protect employees and others. This course will emphasize the correction and prevention of safeguarding hazards as they relate to OSHA Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards.

Upon course completion students will have the ability to explain hazardous actions and motions of various types of machinery, identify methods of safeguarding, and match identified safeguards with the applicable OSHA Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards to reduce and eliminate the potential for accidents and injuries

Targeted Audience:

Individuals responsible for overseeing safety in industries such as: Construction, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Maritime and General Industry.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Explain the hazardous actions and motions of selected machinery and apply appropriate safeguard methods
  2. Identify specific safeguarding tools that are available to assist in safeguarding efforts
  3. Describe applicable OSHA standards that apply to safeguarding equipment.
