Course Description:

This course covers the roles and responsibilities of the employer to educate and assign a competent person to excavation sites. Course topics include understanding and application of definitions relating to the OSHA Excavation Standard, excavation hazards, and soil analysis.

Targeted Audience:

Individuals responsible for overseeing safety in industries such as: Construction, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Maritime and General Industry.

  1. Apply OSHA Excavation standards as outlined in 29CFR 1926 subpart P
  2. Identify the duties of competent person at an excavation site
  3. Identify the specific duties of 29CFR 1926 subpart P
  4. Identify requirements for worker protection at excavation sites
  5. Explain inspection methods and support systems
  6. Describe limitations and proper installation of protective equipment
  7. Explain the formulation and application of emergency procedures
  8. Identify the limitations of emergency applications.
