Kathleen Shanfield has focused most of her professional career around evaluating and treating clients with various disabilities in the use of assistive technology, as well as practicing general occupational therapy. She has over 30 years of experience working in a variety of settings ranging from in and outpatient rehabilitation of patients with spinal injury, brain injury, cardiac and pulmonary problems, and post-polio syndrome. She currently works at the Center for Applied Rehabilitation Technology (CART) program at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, CA, and provides evaluation and training for assistive technology for clients with physical disabilities that limit performance in school, home and work settings. She teaches the Assistive Technology class at Cal State Dominguez Hills OT program.
