Upper Division Admission Requirements

 

Students are eligible for admission to the CSU if they:

  • Have completed 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter units)

    --AND--

  • Have completed at least 30 semester (45 quarter) units of general education courses, graded C or better in each course,including:
      • 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter)units in written communication,
      • 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter)units in oral communication,
      • 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter)units in critical thinking,

        --AND--

      • 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter)units in mathematics/quantitative reasoning.The
        mathematics course must be above the level of intermediate algebra.Go to www.ASSIST.org for listings of CCC courses that meet the general education requirements
  • Have a grade point average of 2.00 or better (2.40 for non-residents) in all transferable college units attempted

    --AND--

  • Are in good standing at the last college or university attended (i.e.eligible to re-enroll at that college or university).

This transfer plan clears all course deficiencies that might have occurred in high school.

 

Lower Division Admission Requirements

 

Eligibility

Lower division transfer students are eligible for admission if they meet the following first-time freshmen admission requirements:

  • Meet the freshman eligibility index with grade point average and test scores;
  • Have completed successfully CSU ’s 15 college preparatory courses while in high school or make up any course deficiencies from high school if the 15-course pattern of college preparatory subjects has not been completed;

    4 years: English
    3 years: Mathematics (algebra,geometry,and intermediate algebra)
    2 years: U.S.history and social science
    2 years: Laboratory science:1 year biological and 1 year physical
    2 years: Foreign language (the same language)
    1 year: Visual and performing arts:art,dance,theatre/drama or music
    1 year: Elective chosen from the subject areas listed above or other college preparatory course (2 semesters or 1 year-long course)

  • Have a college grade point average of 2.00 or better in all transferable college units attempted; and
  • Be in good standing at the last college or university attended (i.e.eligible to re-enroll).
    The fifteen-unit college preparatory subject requirement defines the course requirements for freshman and lower division transfer admission. These requirements are for courses at the high school level. Admission course requirements for first-time freshmen and lower division transfers should not be confused with satisfaction of general education and graduation requirements.

How to Apply?

STEP 1: Collect the following materials for completing the application

  • Your transcripts from all institutions attended
  • The application fee of $55 (check, money order, or credit card) UNLESS you qualify for a fee waiver.

STEP 2: Complete the application

The preferred method of application is through www.csumentor.edu. If you cannot apply online, you can visit us at the University Information Center or contact us at (310) 243-3696 or at info@csudh.edu .

STEP 3: Apply for financial aid, if needed

  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available on the web.
  • Applicants applying for financial aid should apply between January 1 and March 2 to receive priority processing.

STEP 4: Apply for University Housing, if needed
