Post-Baccalaureate and Graduate Admission Requirements


 

 

The Academic Senate has recommended a change in post-baccalaureate and graduate admission requirements.  The resolution of the Academic Senate is as follows:

 

WHEREAS;     CSUDH admissions criteria for post-baccalaureate or graduate admission is now based on a required 2.5 grade point average for the most recent 90 quarter units (60 semester units) attempted, excluding extension courses; and

 

WHEREAS:     some students, in order to improve a grade point average, enroll at various institutions and take lower  division courses; and

 

WHEREAS:     students will benefit from a change of policy designed to encourage more rigorous preparation for graduate admission; therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED:   to replace catalogue section (1), p. 454 to conform to, and the three (b) sections on pp. 451 and 452 to read:

 

                   Have at least a 2.5 grade point average in the last 90 units

(60 semester units) attempted; the entire quarter (semester)

                   in which the 90 (60) units began will be used in the calculation.

Lower division courses taken after obtaining the bachelor’s

degree and extension courses (except CSUDH upper division

resident extension course or the equivalent on other campuses)

will be excluded from the calculation.

 

The recommendations of the Academic Senate are approved.  They will be implemented with the publication of the next University Catalog for the Fall of 1985.
