President Donald R. Gerth
The Academic Senate has recommended a policy change in the use of Credit/No Credit Grades in courses used to satisfy requirements for a major. I am accepting the policy recommendation and the following policy becomes effective for the University on September 1, 1981.
Courses used to satisfy a major (both upper and lower division) must be
taken for a letter grade, except when such courses are graded solely on a
CR/NC basis.
This policy change necessarily results, as the Academic Senate pointed out in their recommendation, in a need to bring policy for graduate students into line with this and the Catalog will also be modified to reflect that.
