About The Senate

The California State University features a unique system of "shared governance."  That means that decisions regarding every facet of University operations are made jointly by faculty and administration.  The CSU Dominguez Hills Academic Senate's official "voice" is over 1000 full time and part-time faculty, counselors and librarians - but it is also the place where faculty, staff, administrators, CFA representatives, students and others come together to consider the important issues we face.

The Senate meets regularly and considers any and all decisions that impact the University community.  We are a legislative body operating under Robert's Rules of Order and have a number of committees and subcommittees designed to ensure that faculty are represented and consulted regarding such vital issues as budget priorities, academic standards, curriculum and instruction, and student affairs.

About This Site

You'll find links here to our constitution, past and pending legislation as well as pictures and background information on each of our current senators.  You'll also find schedule of meetings.  The President and Provost are among those who report to us regularly and all of our meetings are open to the entire campus community.  We urge you to attend as often as you can in order to be as fully informed as possible.  With many issues facing us you can imagine that there are many different points of view regarding how the University can serve its students and carry out its mission.
