Council of Senate Chairs

Mission/Purpose

To enhance shared governance* in the universities of the California State University (CSU) system through an exchange of ideas and strategies.

To recognize and celebrate the diversity and autonomy of the universities of the CSU system, and to benefit from learning of the best practices and distinct perspectives provided by each university.

To understand and work on issues, initiatives, and actions common to the universities of the CSU system.

To facilitate communication, and strengthen the relationship between the CSU Senates and the Academic Senate of the CSU (ASCSU), the CSU Chancellor’s office, and the CSU Board of Trustees.

To provide the ASCSU Executive Committee with comments and feedback on issues of concern to CSU Senates and on resolutions under consideration or passed by the ASCSU.
