How To Put Your Course Syllabus on Blackboard

1. Log on to Blackboard.

  • Your username is your social security number.
  • Your password is your six-digit birthdate.

2. Click on the link to the course for which you want to post a Syllabus.

3. Click the control panel button

4. Click the hyperlink for Syllabus.

 

5. Click add item.

6. Copy your Syllabus from your word processing document and paste it in the blank text box on the screen.

Leave the word Syllabus selected in the dropdown menu, as indicated by the arrow to the right.

Leave the text box beneath the dropdown menu box blank.

Leave the smart text radio button selected.

7. Below the text box are other options for displaying information on Blackboard. The picture to the right shows the most common configuration. Under Options, make any adjustments you want to make by clicking the appropriate radio button.

8. When you have everything the way you want it, click the submit button at the bottom of the screen.

 

9. Preview your work. If everything is correct, click the OK button. Otherwise, click the back button on your web browser and make adjustments.

10.The last thing you need to do is set the controls to make the Syllabus available for your students. To do this, go back to the control panel and click Course Settings.

11. Under Course Settings, click Area Availability.

12. After Syllabus, click the enable radio button. This will make your Syllabus available to your students.

13. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Submit when you have all appropriate settings checked.

14. Then, click OK if everything is as you want it. If not, go back and make corrections as necessary.

15. If you wish to make modifications to your Syllabus on Blackboard at another time, simply log back on, go back into the control panel, click the Syllabus link, click the modify button, make your changes and submit them again.
