The Division of Graduate
Education at CSU Dominguez Hills
offers a variety of master’s
degrees and advanced
credentials. Use the guide below
to explore our programs.
Admission Requirements:
All GED programs require a
GPA of 2.75 or higher for the
last 60 semester units (3.0 or
higher in Pupil Personnel
Services). PPS and Special
Education accept the Miller's
Analogies Test with a score of
500 or higher, in lieu of the
GPA requirement.
Application Procedure:
Both a university application
and a program application are
required. The university
application may be completed
online at
www.csumentor.com. Pick up a
program application at the GED
Division office, download the
application at
www.csudh.edu/coe/gednew/admissions.asp , or
call 310-243-3524 to have one
mailed to you.
General Information:
Most courses are offered in the
late afternoon or evening; some
may be available online. M.A.
degrees have a seven-year limit
for all coursework. Twenty-one
or more units must be completed
in residence (as a matriculated
student). M.A. programs offer a
comprehensive examination or a
thesis option as a capstone
experience (Technology Based
Education requires a thesis).
All students must meet the
Graduate Writing Assessment
Requirement before or during the
first year of attendance.

OPTION
(up to 9 units may be
transferred from credential or
other graduate course work)
The M.A. in Education,
Curriculum & Instruction Option
(formerly called the
Teaching/Curriculum Education
Option), is a 30-unit masters
program with an emphasis on
curriculum development. Twelve
units of electives are included.

TECHNOLOGY BASED EDUCATION
OPTION
The M.A. in Education,
Technology-Based Education
Option, is a 30-unit masters
program with an emphasis on the
use of computers and related
technology in educational
settings. There are no electives
in the program. Students
entering the program are
expected to possess basic
computer skills. Program
graduates may become technology
trainers, mentors, or
coordinators. In some cases, a
supplemental teaching credential
may be obtained by taking 12
units within the program. A
15-unit Computer-Based Education
Certificate is also available.

MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION
OPTION
(up to 9 units may be
transferred from credential or
other graduate course work)
The M.A. in Education,
Multicultural Education Option,
is a 30-unit masters program
with an emphasis on teaching in
a multicultural environment with
second language learners.
Fifteen units (5 courses) are
required; the remainder is
electives from the College of
Education offerings. A
Cross-cultural, Language and
Academic Development (CLAD)
Certificate (12 units) is also

INDIVIDUALIZED PROGRAM OPTION

M.A./M.S. PROGRAMS WITH
OPTIONAL CREDENTIALS
EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION
The M.A. in Education,
Educational Administration
Option (31 units) and
Preliminary and Professional
Administrative Services
credentials are offered through
this program. The program now
uses a cohort format, with
completion of the credential
courses in one year. The M. A.
requires 9 additional units.
Students receiving
Administrative Services
credentials serve in
administrative positions in K-12
schools. The new EAD program
uses a cohort model, with

COUNSELING OPTION AND PUPIL
PERSONNEL SERVICES SCHOOL
COUNSELING CREDENTIAL
The M.A. in Education,
Counseling Option (48 units) and
a PPS School Counseling
credential are offered through
this program. Students who
complete the M.A. degree may
become counselors at the
community college level.
Credentials are required to be a
counselor or school psychologist

M. A. IN SPECIAL EDUCATION AND
EDUCATION SPECIALIST CREDENTIALS
The M.A. in Special Education is
offered through the Division of
Teacher Education. The program
prepares educators to work with
students with disabilities in
