Q. What is project PHISET?

Project PHISET stands for Preparing High Incidence Special Education Teachers.

Q. Where does the project get its funding?

The project is funded by a federal grant from the US Department of Education.

Q. Who does Project PHISET serve/who is eligible?

CSUDH liberal studies students who have an interest in teaching elementary special education, paraprofessionals in LAUSD,   and long term substitute teachers in LAUSD who have an interest in teaching elementary special education.

Q. What is the process?

Please make an appointment via Kent Maruyama to discuss the program with the program director and or manager.

Q. How long does this program take?

Three semesters of full time course load

Q. What are the benefits of being in this program?

A $5000 stipend that will cover tuition,    books, and fees for the three semesters.

Q. What is the end product?

You will have your level I preliminary special education credential.

Q. How do I apply?

Apply to the university, apply to the special ed program, then apply       to Project PHISET and interview with Project PHISET

Q. Do I need to pass any tests before entry?

Yes, CBEST and the multiple subjects CSET.
