WELCOME!

Project PHISET prepares paraeducators and others to teach elementary school children with mild/moderate disabilities. In one year you can earn your preliminary teaching credential and be on your way to an M.A. in Special Education.

Our Program Goal:

For the foreseeable future, there will be a shortage of teachers to serve individuals with mild/moderate disabilities. Consequently, the College of Education at CSUDH applied for and has been awarded a U.S. Department of Education personnel preparation grant in mild/moderate disabilities. The first cohort will begin in the summer semester 2007.

Our Program Objective:

To recruit, prepare and support highly qualified special educators to teach students with mild/moderate disabilities in high need local districts in Lynwood, Compton, Long Beach, Lennox, Inglewood, Hawthorne, LAUSD, and other urban school districts.

Application Deadline:

The deadline to join is May 1st, 2008. If you have any questions that are not answered on our website, please contact Kent Maruyama (Project Assistant) at 310 243-2355 or by email to phiset@csudh.edu.  We look forward to meeting you!
