The Special Education Program
is designed to offer candidates both
core and advanced specialization
training in the delivery of special
education services from infancy to
adulthood. The program
prepares candidates in principles
and techniques applicable to
individuals with mild/moderate
disabilities, moderate/severe
disabilities, and early childhood
special education.
Candidates first complete the
Preliminary (Level I) Special
Education Credential Program
(Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe or
ECSE) which include both general and
special education course work and
fieldwork. After completion of the
Level I credential, candidates may
advance to the Clear (Level II)
Special Education Credential
(Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe or
ECSE). This program includes only
special education course work and a
Professional Induction Plan which is
supported by the university and the
candidate’s employer. For more
