Division of Nursing Part-Time Faculty

Geri Ann Gallanti, Ph.D.

Dr. Geri-Ann Galanti been teaching with the Statewide Nursing Program since 1983.  She received her PhD in anthropology from UCLA, where she specialized in medical anthropology and transcultural psychiatry.  Her dissertation was on psychic readers and their clients.  She also teaches in the Department of Anthropology at Cal State Los Angeles, and in the Doctoring Program at the UCLA School of Medicine.  She is the section editor for the Medicine and Culture section of the WJM (formerly Western Journal of Medicine) where she write a column on culture and health. She is best known in the academic & healthcare communities for her book, "Caring for Patients From Different Cultures,"  a collection of case studies of cross-cultural misunderstandings in health care settings. 

Ann Grant, Ph.D., R.N.

Dr. Grant has been teaching nursing research for the past 17 years and "finds it a very rewarding class". She notes that nursing students are in many ways natural researchers with finely developed observational skills and critical thinking abilities. In addition, Dr. Grant is the Dean of Science and Nursing at Cuesta College, and enjoys working with students at all levels

Maggie Pierce, M.S.N., R.N.

Ms. Pierce, has been affiliated with the Division of Nursing of CSUDH for fifteen years now. She has taught online with the state and national electronic education programs for two years. She received her BSN in 1976 from San Diego State University and her MSN from California State University, Los Angeles in 1984. She has taught at Loma Linda University in their BSN program and has been part time faculty with the Statewide Nursing program, CSUDH for the last 15 years. In her 25 years of nursing she has practiced in multiple areas of acute care hospital nursing including medical-surgical, critical care, and staff education and development. In the ambulatory arena Maggie has experienced public health and community nursing. During the past 18 years she has held progressive management positions and performed in the capacity of Nurse Administrator/Nurse Executive. Presently Maggie holds the position of Nurse Executive/Patient Care Leader, as well as Service Line Administrator for Women and Child Services, Behavioral Health Services, and Education for Kaiser Permanente Orange County Service Area.

Judy Snyder, M.S.N., R.N

Ms. Snyder is an alumnus of Boston College and University of Pennsylvania. Her clinical background is in Medical-Surgical nursing and she is currently involved with Staff Development in acute care hospitals.
