Erik
Ernst, RN, FNP, MSN, MBA
Erik
graduated with his MSN/FNP specialization in spring 2004. A
resident of Anaheim, Erik is currently working at a Los Angeles
urban hospital as a FNP in the hospital’s community clinic.
There he sees patients across the age continuum with diverse
physical and psychosocial diagnoses. Additionally, Erik is presently
working per diem with several internal medicine physicians as
a FNP. After completing his MBA in 1992 at Pepperdine University,
Erik worked in the administration of a long-term facility for
chronically mentally disordered adults. Erik believes that NSO
plays an integral part in students’ ability to communicate
ideas and concerns to CSUDH administration as well as to receive
support and guidance during their CSUDH educational coursework.
This is Erik’s second year as a NSO board member.

Wendie
Silverman, RN, MSN
Wendie graduated with her MSN/Nurse Educator specialization
in summer 2003. A resident of Berkeley, Wendie has shared her
knowledge in different educational settings. After having taught
at an Associate Degree Nursing program, Wendie became an Education
Specialist at a recuperation skills training center. Her work
there includes teaching fresh post-operative patients how to
provide for their needs at home including administration of
injections and surgical site drain maintenance. Additionally,
Wendie holds weekly classes for pre-operative patients and instructs
them on what to expect before, during, and after their surgery.
Wendie believes that NSO Student Mentoring has a positive effect
on students and encourages those students interested in seeking
a mentor to take advantage of this service for support and reassurance
while students pursue their educational goals. This is Wendie’s
third year as a NSO board member.
