Wireless Internet Setup Instructions

Use these step-by-step instructions to configure your computer for wireless internet connection.

System Requirements

  • Windows XP w/ Service Pack 2
  • 802.11g Wireless Internet Card:
    • - Available in USB
    • - Belkin products will not work
  • Minimum 128mb RAM preferably 256+
  • Mac users, please stand-by

  • If you see multiple connections in your Wireless Network Connection Properties, repeat the process for each one.
  • You will be prompted to enter credentials on the bottom right of your computer screen.
  • Use your Blackboard logon information (i.e. jWehadababyitsaboy2 || birth date/password).
  • The wireless network card hardware can be found at any electronics store (Cost: $50-$100).
  • CIS students can obtain a Windows XP CD for free.
  • Service Pack 2 is necessary for the PEAP feature. It can be downloaded from multiple sites on the internet.
  • Transfer the SP2 data from another computer.
  • The outdoor wireless antennas dance on windy days; therefore, connectivity will not be 100%
