Academic Requirements

Freshman

Students applying to a bachelor's degree program, with no previous coursework at a college or university, are considered first-time university students or "freshmen." Freshmen applicants must have completed the secondary education/high school in their own country or the equivalent in another country. Good academic standing with a "B" grade point average or GPA (on a scale of A, B, C, D, F) or better for all the courses taken at the secondary school is required.

Transfer Applicants

Students applying to a bachelor's degree program, with completed secondary education and some coursework at a college or university, are considered "transfer" applicants. Good academic standing with a "C+" grade point average (on a scale of A, B, C, D, F) or better for all the undergraduate courses is required.

U.S. Community College Transfer Applicants (with more than two years of post-secondary, college/university level work with a minimum of sixty 60 transferable semester units and a cumulative minimum 2.4 GPA) must have classes in both college English and Math with a "C" grade or better.

California Community College transfer students should have all the lower division CSU "General Studies" requirements completed in two to three years (60 to 70 units). Cerritos Community College (east), El Camino Community College (west), Harbor Community College (northwest), Long Beach Community College (southwest) and Santa Monica Community College (north) are located very near to our campus (15 to 20 minute drive).

Graduate Applicants

Students who have earned a degree equivalent to a four year U.S. bachelor's degree may apply for a master's degree. These applicants are considered "graduate" applicants. Good academic standing with a "B" grade point average (on a scale of A, B, C, D, F) or better for all the undergraduate courses is required.
