Is the On-Campus Interviews Program for Me?

If you are trying to fill multiple openings for full-time, entry level career positions, the On-campus Interview program may be your answer. It enables you to conduct initial screening interviews of prospective CSUDH graduates and recent alumni without the hassles of screening resumes and scheduling candidates yourself. The service is free.

Here are some additional criteria:

• Your available positions must be full-time, and require a bachelors or masters degree. (see list of degrees available here at CSUDH).

• You may recruit for one position description, or a mix of positions on the same schedule.

• It is recommended that you have a minimum of two openings available at the time of interviews. Position start dates should accommodate the new hire’s graduation date.

• Interview dates are available October-November, February- May, and June-July during regular office hours.

• Interview rooms are located in Student Development. They are private and comfortable, and are equipped with outside phone lines, and access to the Internet.

• Staffing agencies are not eligible to use the program unless they are recruiting for internal hires or for a specified employer who has outsourced the recruitment function to them.

• Direct marketing firms or any other enterprise that require a monetary investment from the job candidate as a condition of hire are not eligible.

Meeting your Expectations

Your success in attracting qualified candidates to interview can be positively impacted by several factors: appeal and uniqueness of the position, competitive compensation, and proximity to Los Angeles/Orange County.

• It is typical for an interview schedule to yield 25% for a second interview, though it is not uncommon for employers to report that 30-40% of candidates will receive a second.

• All student participants will have attended a mandatory orientation where the interview process, researching a company, and proper attire are discussed.

I’m Interested. What do I do next?

• Call the Scheduling Coordinator (310) 243-3625 and determine the best date.
• Choose the type of schedule. We offer open schedules, where students who meet your guidelines for appropriate degree and major are given their interview time by the office. We also offer pre-select (closed) schedules, where the employer receives resumes by a predetermined deadline, and then selects and schedules the candidates themselves.
• Forward a position description (or fill out our Position Data Form) and a signed On-Campus Interview Reservation Form. The Program Coordinator will need to review and approve both documents before the position is advertised.
• Provide the office with literature about your organization.

When will I know what my schedule is?

Employers with open schedules:
• You will be contacted by the Scheduling Coordinator two to three days prior to the interview date to confirm the number of candidates on your schedule.

• Upon arrival for your interviews, you will be provided with a resume of each candidate, and your interview schedule.

Employers with pre-select (closed) schedules:
• You will be notified on your resume deadline date of the number of candidates you have. Resumes will be faxed for your review. We request that a list of your confirmed interview candidates and their interview times be given to our office within 48 hours of the interview date.

• If you must cancel a schedule for any reason, we request 48 hour notice so we have adequate time to notify candidates. In cases of illness or office emergency on the day of an interview, please make every effort to send a substitute interviewer.

• Parking permits will be waiting for you at the Information Booth near the Victoria St. entrance to the campus.
