Eligibility and Payment Procedures Career Counseling and Employment Services of the Student Development Office are available without charge to California State University, Dominguez Hills alumni for six months following the last date of enrollment at the University. After this grace period, the services listed below will continue to be available for the annual fees noted. Extended Education course enrollees are excluded from the grace period. “Alumni” are defined as those individuals who: · Have completed a degree or credential program at CSUDH · Have been enrolled in classes at CSUDH · Have completed courses offered through Extended Education
Fee Payment is due and payable after the first visit to the office. 1. You will be asked to provide proof of alumni status. A copy of your CSUDH transcripts, an expired CSUDH student identification card, or copy of your diploma are all acceptable. 2. Obtain an Alumni Career Services fee form at Student Development. Make the check payable to CSU DOMINGUEZ HILLS for the amount indicated. 3. Return the check with the fee form by mail or in person to the Cashier’s Office, Welch Hall, Room 270 at the campus address. 4. You will be given a copy of the fee form with the Cashier’s stamp as evidence of payment. You will be asked to present your stamped fee form when using services. Career Counseling and Employment Services are made available to alumni of other California State Universities through a long-standing reciprocal service policy. There is no grace period following the last period of enrollment at a sister institution in the CSU. Annual fees apply upon utilization of the services. Alumni of other CSU campuses will be asked to verify their alumni status by presenting a letter or card of reciprocity from the Career Center of their home campus. CSUDH services may not be utilized until a letter or card of reciprocity is presented. Reciprocal service clients may utilize the same services that are offered to CSUDH alumni with the exception of Education Placement File Service. Participation in the On-Campus Interview Program is on a space available basis. Students of other CSU campuses are also eligible for the above services if their home campus is outside a 50 mile radius from CSUDH. (CSU Los Angeles, CSU Fullerton, and CSU Long Beach are within 50 miles of CSUDH.) Alumni fees will apply. Individual Career Services--$25 per year The following services are provided: · A series of five one hour individual career counseling sessions, along with a free initial consultation · The use of various career assessment instruments as prescribed by the counselor · Six hours of access to the computer-assisted career guidance programs of the office, including Choices and CX online. · Resume and Personal Statement critique services. (Alumni may drop off their resume or personal statement for review by a counselor who will proof it and provide feedback; it will be ready the next business day for pick-up) · Subscription to the Student Development listserv, providing special announcements about career events, hot jobs, and employment news Information & Group Services—$25 per year The following services are provided: ·
Participation
in Career and Employment Workshops (A variety of workshop topics are offered · Participation in Practice Interview Clinics as scheduled · Access to career and job search information distributed by the Student Development Office · Subscription to the Student Development listserv, providing special announcements about career events, hot jobs, and employment news · Participation in the On-Campus Interview Program. Attendance at the required Campus Interview Preparation Seminar is free. · Initial consultation regarding services available, scheduled with a counselor by appointment · Attendance at Job Fairs, Graduate School Fair and employer networking events · Participation in a Campus Interview Preparation seminar, prior to signing up for On-campus Interviews · Access to jobs on-line via MonsterTRAK.com and other job and career information sites linked to the Student Development web page. · Access to resume posting service on MonsterTRAK.com for resume distribution to interested employers · Access to the Student Development career library’s print and video resources |
