Alonzo begins his first full year as the Marketing & Promotions Coordinator after holding the position on an interim basis since January 2006. As the Marketing & Promotions Coordinator, his duties include marketing and fund-raising for CSUDH Athletics, and the promotion of CSUDH home games and events. Though a recent administrative addition, he is a familiar face within the department, having served as a student athletic trainer at CSUDH from 2000-05. Prior to his arrival to CSUDH, Alonzo played tennis at both Southern University, where he received “Freshman of the Year” honors, and at Louisiana State University. He then enjoyed modest success as a semi-professional tennis player. Alonzo has served as a teaching professional working with such groups as the Amateur Athletic Foundation, Challengers Boys and Girls Club, National Junior Tennis League and the Arthur Ashe Safe Passage Tennis Program. Receiving both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Cal State Dominguez Hills, the Long Beach resident enjoys collecting turn-of-the-century memorabilia, visiting historical architectural landmarks and attending cultural functions. |
