Deann Schlobohm joined the Athletics Department administrative staff in fall of 2005 as the Special Events Coordinator, after successfully founding the cross-country/track and field programs in 1997, and serving as head coach of both teams. As the Special Events Coordinator, she will aid in the overall marketing and fundraising efforts of the Athletics Department. A Huntington Beach resident, Deann has years of experience in marketing and fundraising, having worked for 16 years in the same capacity at Mammoth Athletics Incorporated. At MAI, she contracted and established special events and fitness programs within Citibank/Citicorp, Epicor, Johnson and Higgins Insurance, L.A. Cellular, Mattel and New Line Cinema. Deann also developed, implemented and managed corporate functions for her clients, and produced a monthly newsletter for Citibank Fitness which increased participation by over 50%. In addition to her marketing and fundraising responsibilities, Deann administered budgets and payroll for MAI, and organized annual sports and special events for 10 to 3,000 participants, including the Citibank/Citicorp Health Fair, New Line Cinema corporate parties and Epicor meetings/seminar. Earning a track and field scholarship and competing in the 800 meters at the University of California Los Angeles, Schlobohm received her Bachelor of Arts in History from UCLA in 1982. The Chicago (IL) native resides in with her husband of 13 years and two daughters, Stephanie (11) and Sonja (9). |
