CARSON, Calif.-Junior RHP Chris Ingstad pitched a strong 6 innings to lead Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 4-1 win in the first game of today's twinbill against Concordia University at Toro Field. But the Eagles got two 2-run home runs to propel them to a 6-3 win to earn the split.

In the first game, SS Eric Pringle's bases loaded walk pushed across what proved to be the winning run. The Toros tacked on a single run in the fifth on LF Joe Gevas' RBI triple and another run in the sixth inning on a Jose Montes run scoring groundout. Concordia got on the board in the top of the sixth on LF Steve Kelly's RBI double but that was all the Eagles would get as CSUDH went on for the 4-1 win.

Chris Ingstad (1-0) went a strong first 6 innings allowing a run on 5 hits to earn his first win of the year. LHP Steve Ressa came out of the bullpen to pitch two scoreless innings striking out three batters. Closer Brian Cortes pitched the ninth to record his second save of the year.

Offensively, CSUDH was led by Gevas going 2-4 at the plate with an RBI including a double and triple. C Edgar Esqueda also had two hits going 2-3 at the plate.

In the nightcap, Concordia held on for the 6-3 win. The Toros loaded the bases twice in the final three innings with less than two outs, but were not able to get the key hit to close the gap. SS Kevin Rios made it 2-0 in the first inning with a 2-run shot over the left field fence.

In the second inning, the Eagles plated four more runs giving them a 6-0 lead. CU's Eddie Nelson took CSUDH starter Brad Allen (0-1) deep over the left field fence with a man on making it 4-0. Rios hit an RBI double and Daniel Candela hit a run scoring single up the middle to close out the scoring in the game for Concordia.

The Toros scored a run in the second on 2B Jesus Hernandez' RBI single. 1B Danny Jacobs made it 6-2 with an RBI double in the gap in the third inning and Esquada's bases loaded walk in the fifth would account for the final margin. Timely hitting was not the word of the day in the second game as CSUDH stranded 11 runners and left 21 runners on base in both games.

Joe Gevas stayed hot with a nice 3-3 performance at the plate in the second game. On the mound, LHP Brad Allen went only 1-2/3 innings allowing all 6 runs on 5 hits. RHP Don Bracken came out of the pen strong and pitched the final 5-1/3 scoreless innings striking out four batters and allowing only 2 hits.

For Concordia (6-3), Kevin Rios led the squad going 2-3 at the plate with 3 RBI and a homer. 2B Chris Bowen was 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Andrew Deleon (1-0) came on in relief of starting RHP Justin Jones to earn the win. Deleon went 3 innings allowing 2 runs while striking out three. RHP Brian Leahy pitched the final 2-2/3 to earn his second save of the season.

Cal State Dominguez Hills (4-1) is back in action this Tuesday travelling to Cal Baptist for a single game beginning at 2 PM.
