February 13, 2002

George WingCARSON, Calif.-Cal State Dominguez Hills head baseball coach George Wing and his wife Rody will receive special recognition when he is honored this Friday night at the COaches of INfluence (COIN) banquet to be held at the Crystal Cathedral.

The 3rd Annual COIN banquet honors coaches viewed as positive role models and that are making a difference with those whom they influence. The keynote speaker is Bill McCartney, the former University of Colorado head football coach and President of Promise Keepers.

"This is truly an honor for me," states Wing. "Coaching and teaching the game of baseball is a pleasure, but what really makes it all worth while is knowing you are making a difference in the lives of the kids you coach."

Also being honored along with coach Wing is Al and Phyllis Norquist of Moorpark College, Tony and Julia Peralta of Lake Elsinore High School and Mike and Melinda Sanford of the San Diego Chargers.

Wing begins his 14th season at the helm of the Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball program. Last year, he became the school's all-time winningest coach and currently has 329 career wins at the Carson campus.

The banquet is set to begin at 7 PM this Friday, February 15 at the Crystal Cathedral Arboretum located at 12141 Lewis St, Garden Grove, CA.
