Five-Run Fourth Inning Propels UC San Diego to 10-3 Win over Cal State Dominguez Hills in Baseball

Chad Addison hit a three-run double to spark a five-run fourth inning as UC San Diego defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills, 10-3, in CCAA baseball action at Triton Field Friday.

Joe Gevas had a pair of singles for the Toros and Edgar Esqueda hit the game's only home run, a solo shot in the fifth inning.

Keith Smith pitched six innings, striking out four and allowing four hits and two walks to pick up his second win of the season. Jeff Riddle drove in a pair of runs for UCSD while going two-for-five at the plate, while Matt Smith, Keith Hernandez and Philip Bretsch also turned in two-hit performances for the Tritons.

CSUDH fell to 4-3-1 overall and 0-2 in the CCAA. With its second win over the Toros in as many days, UCSD improved to 8-5-1 overall and 4-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The two teams will complete the four-game season series Saturday with a doubleheader at Cal State Dominguez Hills beginning at 12:00 noon.
