Complete Box Score -- Game 2

DAVIS, Calif. --- The Toros scored five times in the third inning of the opener and capitalized on five UC Davis errors to record a 6-3 win in the opener of their Friday California Collegiate Athletic Association softball doubleheader at LaRue Field.

Sophomore pitcher Amy Rosson's four-hitter against Cal St. Dominguez Hills lifted UC Davis to a 1-0 victory in the second game.

The Toros scored five times in the third inning of the opener and capitalized on five UC Davis errors to record a 6-3 win. UC Davis is 8-6 overall and 3-3 in the CCAA, while Dominguez Hills moved to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in league play.

In the opener the teams combined for nine runs and nine errors. The contest was scoreless until Dominguez Hills scored five runs on two hits and three infield errors by UC Davis in the third inning. Sasha Shell and Dani Stronks each had run-scoring hits for Dominguez Hills.

Trailing 6-1 in the seventh, UC Davis rallied to score a pair of runs on two hits and two errors by the Toros. The Aggies loaded the bases with two outs and had the tying run at the plate, but Dominguez Hills starter Tracy Barrientos got out of the jam to record her third win of the season. She allowed just four hits, struck out one and walked five.

The Aggies had just two hits off Dominguez Hills starter Patrina Smith in the nightcap - singles by outfielders Shyamala White and Emily Hetzner. Smith struck out just one batter but didn't walk any. Four different Toros had hits.

Aggie starter Susan Churchwell allowed three hits and six runs - only two of them earned - and fell to 3-5 on the season. Shortstop Tricia Olivarez, third baseman Lindsay Moore, designated player Suzanne Yale and first baseman Shelly Malbon each had singles for the Aggies.

Rosson captured her fourth straight win in the second game, improving her record to 5-1. She scattered four hits against the Toros, walked none and had nine strikeouts. She was perfect through the first three innings, picking up six strikeouts including striking out the side in the second. Rosson allowed single hits each of the final four innings and left the Toros' only threat at third base in the fourth.

UC Davis scored its only run in the bottom of the fourth when Lindsey Roark scored from third after an infield error.

The Toros continue their northern swing with a doubleheader on Saturday at Chico State.
