Grand Canyon Wins 2-1 in Ten Innings, Sweep Weekend Baseball Series over Toros
Antelopes win extra-inning game on Lopez RBI single in top of tenth inning

CARSON, Calif.-In another marathon extra-inning game, the second in this weekend's four-game series, Grand Canyon pulled off the win 2-1 in 10 innings with a clutch RBI base hit by C David Lopez as the Antelopes sweep Cal State Dominguez Hills in this weekend's series.

CSUDH (7-7-1, 2-6 CCAA) struck early with a run in the fourth on a leadoff double by LF Mike Roux followed by a single from 1B Danny Jacobs advancing Roux to third. 3B Damien Lopez grounded into a double play that scored Roux from third to give the Toros a 1-0 lead.

Grand Canyon (10-6, 5-2 CCAA) tied the game in the fifth when DH Greg Serrano reached on catcher's interference and advanced to second on a groundout. CF Travis Kaats then hit a single down the left field line to score Serrano knotting the game at 1-1.

It stayed that way until the top of the 10th inning. With one out, 2B Trent Otis doubled to left field and was singled home by Lopez for the game-winning run. The Toros made it interesting in the bottom of the inning with a runner on second and two outs, but Roux flied out to center field to end the game.

Toros RHP Aldo Silva (3-2) was the tough luck loser today on the mound today. He went the distance hurling all 10 innings allowing only 1 earned run on 6 hits. He struck out 5 on the day and walked only 2. Canyon's RHP Ben Mitchell (1-1) earned the win in relief tossing 4 innings of one-hit ball.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is back in CCAA action this week with two games against cross town rival Cal State LA on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 27-28. Both games are scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch.
