POMONA, Calif.--The Cal State Dominguez Hills
baseball team was swept by Cal Poly Pomona 11-8 and 2-0 in
California Collegiate Athletic Association action this past
Saturday in Pomona.
In the first game, CSUDH jumped out to an early
8-0 lead behind home runs from Tony Marquez and Damien Lopez.
However, Cal Poly Pomona scored 11 unanswered runs to go on for
the 11-8 comeback win.
Starting RHP Aldo Silva pitched the first 3
innings for the Toros giving up 8 runs on 8 hits. LHP Steve Ressa
(1-1) suffered the loss in relief going 5 innings allowing 3 runs
on 8 hits. The team was led at the plate by Marquez going 2-4 with
5 RBI.
In the nightcap, the Broncos scored single runs
in the first and sixth innings to go on for the 2-0 victory. Cal
Poly's pitching combined on a 3-hitter as the Toros were shutout
for the first time this season.
RHP Don Bracken (2-3) took the loss pitching
the first 5-2/3 innings allowing both runs on 9 hits.
Cal State Dominguez Hills returns to action on
Tuesday, April 2 with a doubleheader at Cal State LA. First pitch
is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
