Toros Win Both Games Played at Mt. Dew Softball Tourney in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CALIF. — Cal State Dominguez Hills and Chico State were the only teams to escape unscathed through Day #1 of the 2002 CSUB Mt. Dew Classic at North Rosedale Park in Bakersfield Friday evening.

Dominguez Hills, ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA Division II west region poll, avenged a doubleheader sweep last Saturday at UC San Diego with a 6-1 win in its opening game against the Tritons. Patrina Smith tossed a two–hitter for the win.

Lisa Monreal came back to one–hit San Francisco State in the final game of the evening as the Toros picked up a 5-0 shutout to keep the Toros perfect in the tourney.
