CARSON, Calif.-Edgar Esqueda was selected to
the 2002 NCAA II American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings
West Regional Second Team it was announced this week by the ABCA.
Esqueda, a senior catcher from Lake View
Terrace, CA, led the Toros with a .384 average and led the
California Collegiate Athletic Association in hitting for most of
the year. Esqueda broke the all-time season record for doubles
with 21. He also had 4 home runs and knocked in 44 RBI in his
final collegiate season.
A four-year starter at CSUDH, Esqueda completed
his career as the best defensive catcher in Toros history posting
a .993 fielding percentage his senior season. He finishes with 163
hits and 94 RBI in 191 career games behind the plate.
This honor comes on the heels of Esqueda being
named to the All-CCAA Second Team squad two weeks ago. |
