PHOENIX, Ariz.--The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team won the first game of this weekend's four-game series over Grand Canyon University, 5-3, in 11 innings during California Collegiate Athletic Association action Friday. The second game of the twinbill was suspended due to rain with Grand Canyon leading 5-0 in the fifth inning. The game is set to resume tomorrow at 2:30 just before the start of the regularly scheduled doubleheader.

In the first game after five scoreless innings, CSUDH broke out on top, 3-0, in the sixth on a pair of RBI doubles from 3B Ruben Salazar and DH Frank Perez.

Canyon tied it up with a single run in the eight and two runs in the ninth to force extra innings.

In the top of the 11th, after a Salazar lead off double, 1B Tony Marquez blasted a two-run blast to left field, his third homer of the year, for the game-winning hit.

Toro starter Brian Cortes, who was not involved in the decision, went the first 8-1/3 innings allowing three runs, only one earned, on five hits while striking out seven. Chris Ingstad (2-2) came on in the ninth and pitched the final 2-2/3 shutout innings to earn the win. Ingstad allowed only two hits and struck out three.

Salazar and Marquez led CSUDH with three hits each.

In game two, Grand Canyon took a 5-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth before the game was suspended due to rain. CSUDH starter Aldo Silva pitched the first 3-1/3 innings allowing all five runs on six hits.
