CARSON, Calif.--Tony Marquez and Mike Milstead both hit home runs and Toro starting pitcher Larry Robles (4-0) struck out 10 batters while going the distance as Cal State Dominguez Hills took the opening game of a four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association series against Sonoma State University Friday afternoon at Toro Field.

CSUDH (19-19, 13-16 CCAA) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. With one out and runners on the corners, Ruben Salazar drove in a run with a single to right field. Marquez then followed that up with a three-run home run, his ninth of the year, over the right field fence for a 4-0 lead.

Sonoma State (26-10-1, 13-8 CCAA) answered in the second with a run on a leadoff home run deep to right field off the bat of Armando Ornelas, making it 4-1.

The Toros took a 6-1 lead in the fourth when David Keesee led off with a double and two outs later scored when Milstead hit a deep blast to left field for his second homer of the season.

SSU scored another run in the seventh when Dennis Peters hit a two-out run-scoring single to score Darrel Jacks who reached earlier on a double.

Sonoma scored an unearned run in the ninth and was threatening for more with the bases loaded and two outs, however, Robles got shortstop Gil Barry to pop up to second base to end the game.

Starting pitcher Larry Robles was sharp today striking out seven batters in the first six innings while retiring nine of the first 11 batters he faced. Robles allowed three runs, two earned, on 10 hits while notching his first complete game of the year.

Marquez led the team with three runs driven in going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Milstead had two RBI finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. Salazar finished with three hits in the game in four trips to the plate.

For Sonoma, Tim Worthington (6-2) suffered the loss going the first 6.0 innings allowing six runs, all earned, on 10 hits and four walks. Bret Wedding pitched the final 2.0 scoreless innings allowing only one hit.

At the plate, the Seawolves were led by Peters who went 3-for-4 and Ornelas finished 2-for-4 with a home run.

The four-game series continues tomorrow at Toro Field with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
