CARSON, Calif.- The National Collegiate
Athletic Association (NCAA) has announced that the Cal State
Dominguez Hills softball team has earned one of six spots in the
2003 West Regional tournament May 8-11. The NCAA playoff event
will be hosted by number one seed Cal State Bakersfield in
Bakersfield, CA.
This will be the first regional appearance for
CSUDH since 1989. The Toros, the number five seed, finished up the
regular season with a 37-15-1 ledger and a third place finish in
the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
The Toros will open double elimination
tournament play on Thursday at 9 a.m. against fourth seed Humboldt
State. The Toros and Lumberjacks met once earlier in the season
with the Toros coming out on top 4-3 in the eight inning contest.
A tournament pass good for all four days will
be available for $12. General admission tickets will be $5 per
day. Students (w/ID) and children (12 and under) will be $3 per
day. Spectators attending the games may purchase their tickets in
