Milstead Selected to Verizon Academic All-America Team
Senior outfielder garners academic honor from Verizon Academic All-America Committee

CARSON, Calif.--Outfielder Mike Milstead has been selected to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-America, Baseball All-District VIII College Division Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA) today.

Milstead, a senior outfielder from Murrieta, CA., earned the honor by compiling a 3.70 GPA in in the classroom while majoring in Physical Education. On the field, Milstead led the team with 13 stolen bases and was fourth with a .362 batting average ranking him fifth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). In 2003, Milstead finished with four home runs, 20 runs driven in and was third on the squad with 59 hits.

This honor now qualifies Milstead's name to appear on the national ballot with a chance to earn recognition as a member of the 2003 Verizon Academic All-America® Team which will be released on May 27.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selects Verizon Academic All-America® teams in 12 programs: football, women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's track & field/cross country, women's track & field/cross country, men's at-large and women's at-large. A first team, second team and third team are selected in both the University (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) Divisions.
