Irvine, CA.- In a pitching duel that took just
over two hours to complete, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros
ended a 12-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Concordia.
The Eagles own losing streak hit eight games with the loss.
Aaron Duhamel (2-7) had a solid outing for
Concordia, allowing just two runs (one earned) on six hits over 7
2/3 innings. It wasnt enough to counter the Toro pitching,
however, which limited the Eagles to just three hits.
Brett Ingstad went six solid innings for CSUDH.
He gave up just two hits and the only run against him came on a
Joey Hendricks sacrifice fly in the fourth innings. Ramon Mata
(1-4) allowed just one hit over two innings in relief while
striking out two batters for the victory. James Dodson recorded
his first save of the year.
After scoring the games first run in the fourth
inning, Concordia held a 1-0 led into the sixth. Zac Cort reached
base on an error to begin the inning and was later brought home on
an RBI single by Joey Caira. In the eighth inning the Toros scored
the eventual game winner on a fielders choice by Jose Montes.
Caira and Montes each finished with two hits for CSUDH.
The Toros host Grand Canyon in a weekend series
beginning with a single game Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
