Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Klug Named Wilson CCAA Baseball Player of Week

Cal State Dominguez Hills first baseman Jason Klug has been named the Wilson California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week for the week of February 27 through March 5.

Klug, a 6’1” junior from Moreno Valley, earned the honor for the second time this season after leading the Toros to a 3-to-1 series win over Cal State Stanislaus (Mar. 4-5), which had entered the week 13-2 overall and 4-0 in the CCAA.

Klug hit .533 (8 for 15) with 2 doubles, a home run, 5 runs scored, 6 runs batted in and posted on-base and slugging percentages of .867 and .563, respectively, over four games. Klug went a combined 5 for 8 with a double, home run and 5 RBI in games three and four of the series, with the Toros winning by scores of 9-3 and 5-3 in seven innings.

Defensively, Klug handled 29 chances (27-2-0) at first base without an error.
