San Juan Capistrano, CA -- Cal State Dominguez
Hills freshman Niraj Dhruv (Pasadena, CA/South Pasadena HS)
finished the 56th Annual Southern California Intercollegiate where
he began, pacing the Toros linksters and concluding the UC San
Diego Intercollegiate tied for 67th place while CSUDH finished the
team competition in 14th position out of 14 schools.
The Pasadena native fired an 11-over 81 on the
final day of the tourney, after beginning the first two rounds
with 80 and 89 scores to total a 250 for the tournament. Sonoma
States Kyle Hopkins roared back from three strokes down
after yesterdays competition to take the individual title
with a 1-over par aggregate of 211, leading the Seawolves (874)
past Cal State Bakersfield (882) for the overall team title.
Valdosta State Universitys Bobby Dyer
finished three strokes behind Hopkins, while SSUs Peter
Lindback and Georgia College & State Universitys Juan
Bialet tied for 3rd place. Cal State San Bernardinos Bryan
Newman rounded out the top five with a 218 for the tournament,
seven shots behind Hopkins.
Other CSUDH results are: Miguel Saucedo (71st -
79, 92, 85 - 256), Chris Whitaker (72nd - 87, 84, 86 - 257), Shaun
Vickers (73rd - 84, 91, 90 - 265), Matt Giamberdino (74th - 93,
87, 89 - 269).
The Toros next compete at the Cal State San
Bernardino open on Monday, March 27, a two-day tourney taking
place at Shandin Hills Country Club. |
