Toros Baseball Ranked Among Nation’s Best

Carson, CA — Cal State Dominguez Hills Baseball players Houston Hernandez (La Mirada, CA/St. Paul HS), Fred Medina (Santa Ana, CA/Century HS), and Ryan Owen (Riverside, CA/Torrance HS) are all ranked among the nation’s best.

Junior captain Hernandez is the top-rated Toro, checking in at 28th with 0.24 sacrifice hits per game, while senior Medina is a few spots behind, coming in at 48th with 0.21 sacrifices pg. Medina also proves to be one of the most disciplined hitters in the nation as the 38th-toughest hitter in the nation to strike out, having fanned just five times on the season.

On the hill, senior southpaw Owen is ranked 30th in the nation with 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings.

As a team, the Toros rank 27th in fielding percentage (.962), 29th in double players with 0.84 turns per game and 33rd in strikeouts per nine innings (7.7).
