Carson, CA -- On the heels of tossing her first
career no-hitter, pitcher Kristine Minter (Chula Vista,
CA/Hampton University) has been named the Wilson California
Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Pitcher of the Week for
the week of April 17-23.
A junior from Chula Vista, Minter was one pitch
away from a perfect game in the 7-0 win over Cal State San
Bernardino on April 20, allowing the sole Coyote to reach base
with a walk in the 4th inning on a 3-2 pitch that was called ball
four. Otherwise, Minter literally was unhittable, as CSUSB's final
eight batters failed to hit the ball out of the infield. On the
day, the junior faced just 22 batters, one over the minimum
required for 7 innings of work, and fanned four in improving to a
perfect 13-0 on the season.
This is Minters second PiOW award this
season, having captured her first such honor for the week of
February 20-26.
The Toros face Cal State Monterey Bay this
afternoon before returning home for their final home stand this
weekend, hosting Sonoma State on Friday, April 28, followed by a
national showdown against the reigning Far West Champs San
Francisco State the next day. CSUDH will also honor the eight
seniors playing in their final regular season home game of their
careers when they face SFSU.
