Owen Named Wilson/CCAA Baseball Pitcher of Week

Carson, CA – Senior Ryan Owen (Torrance, CA/West Torrance HS) has been named the Wilson California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 24-30, it was announced this afternoon by the CCAA Office.

Owen, a 6’4” southpaw, allowed no runs on 4 hits and no walks while striking out 9 over 6 innings to earn the win in the Toros’ 9-1 triumph at CSU Monterey Bay last week (Apr. 29). This is the fourth time this season the lefty has struck out nine or more batters, fanning 10 batters twice at Grand Canyon on Feb. 17 and against Cal State Stanislaus on Mar. 4, and nine against Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 2.

The senior is currently third in the CCAA in strikeouts with 70 in 68.0 innings of work.

The Toros travel to Cal Poly Pomona this Thursday and Friday for games one and two of a four-game set, before returning home on Saturday, May 6 for games three and four to conclude their 2006 regular season and honor the eight seniors on the 2006 team.
