Walnut Creek, CA CSUDHs stellar
season continues to get better and better, as the Toros received
all three top CCAA honors. Jason Klug (Moreno Valley, CA/San
Bernardino Valley College) and Chris Borchers (Torrance, CA/LA
Harbor College) received the top two honors, being named CCAA
Player and Pitcher of the Year. Not to be outdone, Toros skipper
George Wing was named CCAA Coach of the Year for the second time
in his career, it was announced this evening by CCAA Conference
office.
Klug, a junior from Moreno Valley, hit a
league-leading .420 in 30 CCAA games with 10 doubles, 7 home runs

ranks 2nd in conference games played while his .697 slugging
percentage is 3rd. Defensively, Klug committed only three errors
in 259 chances, good for a stellar .988 fielding percentage.
Borchers, a senior from Torrance, posted a 6-1
CCAA record in eight starts, two of which were complete game
performances. His 3.09 ERA over 55.1 innings in CCAA contests
ranks 5th, while opponents hit just .230 against Borchers, who
compiled a gaudy 4.27:1 strikeout-to-walks ratio (47/11).
In his 18th year at Cal State Dominguez Hills,
Wing guided the Toros to a 31-16 record, including a 20-10 CCAA
mark, earning the top seed in the CCAA Championship Tournament,
scheduled to kick off Thursday afternoon.

All-CCAA team is freshman shortstop Cody Puckett (Apple Valley,
CA/Hesperia HS), who batted .374 in his first campaign in the
Cardinal and Gold, pounding out 40 hits and eight doubles while
slugging .551.
Senior southpaw Ryan Owen (Torrance, CA/West
Torrance HS) was the lone Toro to garner 2nd-Team All-CCAA honors.
The lefty would be 5-1 in conference with 52 strikeouts in 51.2
innings on the mound, holding opposing hitters to a .276 batting
average.
All three parts of the Toro outfield, Mateo
Marquez (Biggs, CA/Cal State L.A.), Isidro Perez (South Gate,
CA/LA Harbor College), and Fred Medina (Santa Ana, CA/Century HS),
along with third baseman Kyle Stanley (Buena Park, CA/Hawaii
Pacific), were named to the 3rd-Team All-CCAA. Marquez led the
trio in batting average, hitting .343 with five home runs and 12
stolen bases in CCAA games. Medina would commit no errors on the
season and hit nine doubles with a win and a save on the mound,
while Perez legged out three triples and drove in 21 runs, posting
a .411 on-base percentage.
